Hi! I am Julie the oldest sister. I have been married for 41 years and we were blessed with 3 daughters and one son. They have each presented us with wonderful spouses. I am very proud of all of my kids and their accomplishments, but I must admit, one of the best things about my kids is that they have given me 8 grandchildren that I love and adore! Let me not forget the two furry creatures in my house, Maya, a 7 year old Golden Retriever and her little buddy Oreo, a 3 year old black Schnauzer! My husband is self employed and I was blessed to be able to be a stay at home mom for years. I got a little restless in my 40’s and decided then to pursue my dream of becoming a therapist. So at the ripe old age of 41 I embarked on my college journey that ended with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and a certification in Addictions Counseling. My career has had many ups and downs but I have learned more about people than I ever thought possible. Many times I dream of retiring and spending my days at the beach or crafting. And then I hear God say, “not yet.” So I continue my mission of helping people learn how to practice good self care, and most of all, learn how to have fun!
I am so blessed to still have my mom, alive and well and living close to me. My dad died 28 years ago from cancer. That was a very dark time in our lives, but our faith in God got us through it. My sister and brother and their families are a very important part of my life. I am also blessed to have a very large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins that we still engage with on a regular basis. My solid base outside of my family is 6 high school friends that I meet with almost monthly to have lunch. I’m really lucky to have all of the people I have in my life.
I must admit I am a woman of hobbies. I love crafting and creating. I love taking pictures. Books and music have always been a passion. My favorite place to go to, is any beach anywhere! I strive to be interested in health and fitness, but sometimes my lack of motivation and Fibromyalgia get in the way of that. I am also very interested in the program of Dogs for Veterans and hope to get more involved in that in the future. Last but not least, I love to learn and am always on a quest to learn how to do something new.
I can’t wait to share with all of you the things I have learned over the years of being a wife, mother, grandmother, counselor, and inspirer!
